| KIM PRUSAK, a Korean Adoptee who grew up in Massachusetts, is currently working as an Adoption Social Worker for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. Kim graduated as a Dean's Scholar from the University of Southern California with a Masters of Social Work. Prior to attending USC, she graduated Cum Laude, with Departmental Honors in Psychology from New York University. Her decision to pursue a career in Social Work was based in part upon her own search for identity as a Korean adoptee. Kim was the Founder and President of Adoptees United at NYU- A group dedicated to providing adoptees from all backgrounds the opportunity to create a community/network of peers, and to promote awareness within the self and community through self-exploration and education. She was also one of the founders of Also-Known-As's University Network. Kim has spoken about adoption at various adoption agencies and conferences. She has also been involved in research concerning cultural-racial identity and the psychological adjustment of transracial adoptees. Kim hopes to eventually work as a therapist for transracially adopted children. |
