| DEANN BORSHAY LIEM, a Korean Adoptee based in California, is an award-winning film director, producer, and writer. As an Executive Director of the National Asian American Telecommunications Association (NAATA), now called the Center for Asian American Media, she supervised the development, distribution and broadcast of new and innovative films for public television, and worked with the American Congress to encourage minority media representation. Her contributions to American film and television include the Emmy Award-nominated documentary, FIRST PERSON PLURAL (Sundance 2000), which the New York Times hailed as “breathtakingly real,” the PBS-screened documentary KELLY LOVES TONY, and the Emmy Award-winning documentary AKA DON BONUS. An Executive Director of the documentary production Katahdin Foundation, she is a recipient of the prestigious Rockefeller Film/Video Fellowship.
